Public records · Canada · Every claim cited

Everything the public record says. Nothing it doesn’t.

Sleuthify searches Canadian public records — corporate registries, court dockets, land titles, professional licensing, liens, and published directories — and uses AI to resolve them into one verified profile of a person, with every claim cited to its source.

Nothing is searched yet. This carries what you have typed into the form, where you set the purpose and sign the declaration — and it stays in this browser tab until you do.

Corporate records · Ontario

Named as a director of Placeholder Holdings Inc. 002418871, registered 14 March 2019, status active.1

A second Ontario corporation shares the registered office address but names no matching officer, so it is not attributed here.2

  1. 1. Ontario Business Registry, profile report — retrieved 2026-08-11 14:22 UTC.
  2. 2. Same source, same retrieval. Recorded as a near match and excluded — the reason is printed, not the inference.
Illustration only — the company and the numbers above are invented. What is real is the shape: a claim, its source, the time it was read, and the near match we declined to attribute. How a report is built.
  • 01

    Every claim is footnoted

A finding without a retrievable source and a retrieval timestamp is not usable in an affidavit, so we do not produce them.

  • 02

    The gaps are printed too

Every report carries a section listing what we looked for and could not find, and which registry would have to be searched by hand.

  • 03

We say when not to buy

The free scan tells you whether a paid report would add anything — including when the honest answer is that it would add nothing.

What this is

Verified

Sleuthify is a self-serve Canadian public-records search platform. You name the person or company and state your purpose; we query 39 record sources across 6 jurisdictions, resolve the results into one profile, and cite every claim to the record it came from. We are not an investigation agency and we do no field work.

Coverage is strongest in 8 provinces and thinnest in the territories. Sleuthify is a public-records search platform, not a consumer reporting agency. Reports may not be used to make decisions about employment, tenancy, credit, or insurance.

Tiers

Three depths of records research

The ladder escalates how deeply the record is searched — never the method. All three tiers work only from sources anyone may lawfully access.

When the automated pass hits a wall, an analyst works the registries by hand — filing retrieval requests, reading dockets, and chasing the paper the crawler cannot reach.

Coverage

What the public record actually holds

Not a menu of promises — a count of the connectors we operate, per category of finding. 26 of the 39 sources carry no search fee; the rest are fee-bearing registries and are metered against your tier’s budget.

  • Identity and name variants

30 connectors can return findings in this category
Aliases, maiden names, and the spellings a registry actually stored — which is rarely the spelling you were given.

  • Addresses, each with a date

18 connectors can return findings in this category
Where a record placed the person, as of the day that record was filed. Never presented as a current address.

  • Companies and directorships

11 connectors can return findings in this category
Registrations, officerships, dissolutions, and defaults across fourteen registries that do not talk to each other.

11 connectors can return findings in this category
Positions evidenced by a registry filing, a licence, a lobbying registration, or an archived staff page.

Limits

What we refuse, and what Canada simply does not publish

Two different things, both worth knowing before you pay. The first is policy. The second is the country.

We will not do this at any tier

  • Criminal record check

In Canada only police services and the RCMP can issue a criminal record check, and it requires the subject's fingerprints or consent. Nobody selling you one online is giving you a real one.

  • Credit report or credit score

Only a registered consumer reporting agency may furnish these, and only with the subject's consent for a permitted purpose.

  • Access to messages, email, phone, or social accounts

Interception of private communications is an indictable offence under Criminal Code s.184, and unauthorized use of a computer under s.342.1.

  • Someone's location in real time, or ongoing monitoring

Continuous monitoring of a person is not research. Depending on the relationship it is criminal harassment under Criminal Code s.264.

Canada does not publish this

  • A public sex offender registry

Canada's National Sex Offender Registry is not public. Only police may access it. Any site claiming to search it for you is lying.

  • A nationwide criminal record search

There is no public national criminal record database. Court records are provincial and often counter-only; a true record check comes from the RCMP via fingerprints, with the subject's consent.

  • Nationwide driver or vehicle records by name

Provincial motor vehicle records are not public. Plate-to-owner lookups are restricted to law enforcement and specific statutory purposes.

  • Marriage and divorce certificates by name

Vital statistics records are restricted to the parties and immediate family. A central divorce registry search requires being a party or their counsel.

The complete list — 8 refusals and 6 structural gaps, with the statute behind each — is at what we won’t do.

Lawful basis

Why we may search this without asking the subject

Because the law says which records are open, and we only touch those. Each connector in our registry carries the paragraph it relies on.

PIPEDA lets an organisation collect personal information without consent only where it is publicly available information, and that term is a closed list of five categories in the Regulations Specifying Publicly Available Information: public telephone directories, professional and business directories, statutory public registries, records of judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, and material the individual published themselves.

Social media is in none of those five. Public visibility does not make a profile publicly available in law — the Privacy Commissioner applied exactly that reasoning to Clearview AI and ordered the service out of Canada. So we resolve a profile URL you supply and record whether it exists; we never search platforms to enumerate someone’s accounts, and we store no profile content.

On top of the source-side basis, every case carries a declared purpose and a signed attestation before any collection runs. Purposes we do not accept — including anything touching employment, tenancy, credit, or insurance eligibility — are refused at intake and the refusal is recorded.

Customer references

None yet

None published yet. Sleuthify launched in 2026 and we will not invent testimonials, star ratings, or a customer count — a records service that fabricates its own record is answering the only question that matters.

When a client agrees in writing to be named, their reference will appear here with their name on it. Until then, judge us on the source list and the refusals.
